We’ve audited enough partner programs to know that the ones with clear answers to these five questions are almost always the ones performing. Not because knowing the number solves the problem, but because knowing the number means someone is managing for it.
Black Friday is six weeks out. For affiliate and partner programs, that window is the highest-stakes revenue moment of the year. And a program that can’t answer these questions going into October is heading into November flying blind.
THE FIVE QUESTIONS
- Who are your top 20% of partners by revenue, and what do they have in common? If you can’t answer this, your recruitment criteria is guesswork. And your Q4 recruiting is running on guesswork at the worst possible time.
- What is your average time from partner approval to first sale? The gap is where programs lose partners they never needed to lose. Partners you’re approving today won’t be activated in time for Black Friday without a fast, deliberate onboarding sequence.
- How many partners have gone quiet in the last 90 days, and do you know why? Dormant partners aren’t lost. They’re waiting to be reactivated with the right trigger. Q4 promotions are one of the strongest reactivation levers there is. Use them.
- Where did your last five new high-performing partners come from? Recruitment compounds when you know what works. Most programs don’t know. And most programs aren’t recruiting with enough lead time for new partners to be ready for peak season.
- What would a 10% improvement in your activation rate be worth annually? Run the math. Then run it again just for Q4. This is the number that makes the case for investing in program management before it matters most.
CLOSING / CTA
If you worked through these and found more blanks than answers, that’s not a problem. That’s a map. It tells you exactly where to start, and it tells you what to prioritize before the season hits.
If you want to work through it with someone who has done this a few hundred times, that’s what our free program audit is for. We’re running them now specifically because Q4 leaves no room for catching up later.
